Baby Shower #2

My Aunt Shelley and cousin Morgan threw Logan and I a baby shower last Saturday for my family up north. Of course, Kenny opted to go and help out on the farm with my Dad and my Uncle Alan while the shower was in play. :)

Shelley and Morgan did such a great job preparing the food and the game we played! We had chicken salad pitas, avocados, fruit (which included chocolate-dipped strawberries!), little lemon cakes, and lemon refresher to drink. I wish I had a picture of it to show how delicious it was but the picture below of my cousin Lily explains it all!

After we ate we played a baby Memory game. The funnest part was how Morgan linked the prizes (candy) to the word matches. For example, if you matched "Umbilical Cord" you won some Twizzlers, or if you matched "Postpartum Belly" you won Jelly Bellies, etc. It was pretty clever! :)

Now on to GIFTS! We got mostly cute clothes and HOMEMADE blankets.

Logan got this cute camo outfit, complete with bibs and a hat.

My Aunt Peggy likes to cross stitch patterns on pillowcases, so here is Logan's first pillowcase from his great, great aunt.

My Aunt Kris made us a couple of bibs and a blanket out of this CUTE material!

My cousin, Morgan, made us this really COOL blanket with all these FUN colors!
My Aunt Shelley made us this MOTHER GOOSE blanket and, you can't tell in this picture, but it has cool stitching all over it!

My Great Aunt Joyce made us this MEMORABLE blanket. The reason I say "memorable" is because all of the squares are made from the material she saved from when she used to make us pajamas when we were little.

Logan's 2 Month Checkup

2 Month Checkup
Yesterday was Logan's 2 month checkup and the doc said he looks very healthy!

Weight: 9 lbs 5 oz
Length: 22 inches
Head circumference: 14.5 inches

Circumcision
Kenny and I had a hard time deciding whether or not to circumcise Logan. There are many reasons TO circumcise, but there was one big reason holding us back from doing it: we wanted it to be HIS decision. We kept going back and forth and either way felt good so we figured that whichever way we chose would be fine. Overall we decided to just do it. So poor Logan was circumcised yesterday (don't worry, we didn't do his vaccinations too, that will be next week). He did very well during the procedure-- he cried a little but I think it was mostly because he didn't like being restrained. I watched the whole thing and Kenny watched parts of it. I didn't cry or panic or anything like that...it was Kenny I was worried about. ;) Logan is doing well today, just a little fussier than usual but we're used to that by now!

I needed something new...a new do???

Soooo, I'd been looking at my hair a lot and thinking that I need a new "do".

I've had the same style for many years and I needed a change.

So what did I do?

My hair was so long that I was able to donate my hair to Locks of Love in order to make a wig out of it.

It's too late to tell me NOT to do it, but you can tell me if I should keep it this way or if I should grow it out and never cut it again. :)

Tidbits

My Birthday

My birthday was a pretty uneventful day until Kenny came home. He took me to Texas Roadhouse (we had a gift card we saved from Christmas), and then we came home and ate some homemade cheesecake we made. Kenny actually sang "Happy Birthday" to me SOLO!

When your birthday cake looks like it's on fire, you know you're getting too old!

Kenny used some of my scrapbooking tools and made me a birthday card.

Kenny always tries to make my birthday special no matter what's going on. He's so sweet and loving and a great husband!

Cross-Country Road Trip
One of our best friends was driving a vehicle back from Washington D.C. and broke down in Iowa. Kenny and our friend, Cade, decided to embark on a road trip across two of the most boring states (Wyoming and Nebraska) into Des Moines, Iowa to rescue him and his vehicle. They took off around 1pm on a Sunday and, driving straight there and back, got home Tuesday at about 6am.

Of course, having 3 outdoorsmen in the truck, they saw the Cabelas headquarters and had to stop for a bit to stretch.

On about a 2,200 mile journey, only 20 miles outside of Ogden on the way back they decided to fill their deer tags. Their weapon of choice: our Dodge pickup. Luckily it was just the bumper that was ruined and insurance is working with us on it.

Mother's Day
This was my first Mother's Day and it was a nice one. Kenny made me breakfast in bed and let me pretty much do whatever I wanted for the day.

We were even able to dress Logan up for church. His sweater vest is still a little too big for him, but it fit well enough.

As a Mother...
*...I've realized being a mom is the hardest job in the world. Everyone tells you it's hard, but you don't quite understand how hard until you've done it.

*...I've decided to accept that little bit of extra around my middle...for now.

*...I understand that stretch marks are just going to be a part of my life.

*...I've learned to have burp cloths in every room.

*...I've accepted that my house will not always be clean.

*...I've enjoyed being at home, but often get bored--especially with no vehicle and this dull weather.

*...I love watching the progress with Logan. I'm always anxious at what he will surprise me with each week.


Little Logan Tidbits

At 4 weeks I decided to start putting Logan on his belly for some "tummy time" in order to help strengthen his neck. So what did he do when I first put him on his belly? He rolled over to his back! I thought that maybe it was just a fluke, so I put him back on his belly and he did it again and he has continued to do it since!

Starting at around 3 weeks Logan decided to be colicky. We didn't know much about colic at the time, so I thought it was something I was eating and I started cutting out a bunch of things, however he continued to be fussy. So we looked into colic and we've tried two different kinds of gas drops and gripe water, both only work sometimes.

He also has stomach reflux so he's on a prescription antacid.

In the midst of all this, Logan and I caught a cold so we have been dealing with that as well.

We have been giving Logan baths every night before bed and he has been sleeping 6-7 hours in a row! Yea!

Logan LOVES to stand up on our laps and then walk up our stomach to our chest. He gets so excited when he can do that and he never tires of it. His legs are soooo strong too!

So, even though when he's grumpy and looks like this:

...it's moments like these that make it all worth it!
