A true "southern" meal

Last week Kenny and I were invited to dinner by an elderly lady whom Kenny does work for. She hasn't been able to pay Kenny for his work, so she offered to make us dinners instead. She is from Virginia and is a *very* good cook! She decided to make us a southern meal, and it definately was something new for both of us!

She made us Salmon cakes that were very good.

And you put a tomato pudding on top of the salmon cakes.

On the side we had black-eyed peas (I believe that was my first time trying them) which you put a vinegar/onion mix on top of. I was skeptical because I don't really like vinegar very much, but it flavored the black-eyed peas very nicely!

She also made cornbread muffins that are always very yummy.

And for dessert she made us peach cobbler and, of course, it was delicious. She adds nuts to hers (pecans or walnuts, I can't remember which).

Overall, it was new to us but very good!

Even though I always have studying to do, she wanted Kenny and I to stay and watch a movie with her. She's a widow and lives alone with her dog, Tramp, and she's always been good to us, so we decided to stay and watch "Rumor Has It". I thought it was a pretty good movie--of course I really like all the actors in it! :)
As far as everything else going on in our lives, Kenny is trying to look for jobs around here. I have been told that I will do my clinical rotations at Portneuf Medical Center, Fort Hall clinic, and Harms Memorial in American Falls for the summer. I just bought my cap and gown today (they didn't have an option to rent, so I had to buy--when am I going to wear it again?), so it is getting to be official! Kenny is still deciding whether or not to walk, so he's holding off on buying a cap and gown. I will most likely be making my own announcements, so watch for them in April. For those of you who wish to attend a long and boring commencement and need to plan ahead, Commencement is Saturday May 9, 2009 at 10:00 am.

My new "do"

I got some bangs trimmed today and thought I would share with everyone my new "do". I haven't had bangs like this for a long time so I was worried that I wouldn't like them, but I think I do! :)
